A very popular beach which is just under 10 kilometers from the city of Thiruvananthapuram. Kovalam has three crescent shaped beaches and the most popular among them is the light house beach. Kovalam has been a favorite destination for foreign tourists for many years now. Another popular beach in Kovalam is Eve’s beach which is preferred for its calm environment. The beaches in Kovalam offer a range of activities like swimming, sun bathing, Ayurvedic massages etc. The beach also offers other entertainments like bon fires and beach fire rings. The most spectacular sight at Kovalam is the sunset which said to be a new every single day.

- Vizhinjam: Another notable sight is Vizhinjam port, which is just a couple of kilometers away from Kovalam. The place is famous for old temples and mosques. It is also the place of the proposed shipping terminal. A rock cut temple is a wonderful sight that takes you away way back in time.
- Aruvikkara Dam: This dam is located 10 kilometers away from Kovalam and is famous for the Durga temple and Fish tank. The area offers wonderful picnic spots great for the whole family.
- Varkala : The famous hindu pilgrim centre is also known as Papanasham beach or Beach to wash away sins. This is also the place of the famous Sivagiri monastery.
- Kanyakumari : The southernmost tip of the Indian sub continent is 90kms away from Kovalam. The place is famous as both sunrise and sunset can be watched from the same spot. The main attractions of the place are Vivekananda Rock, Gandhi Smarak Mandir and Kanyakumari Temple.
