Spain’s industrial production falls

Madrid, March 9 (IANS) Spain's industrial production fell by 3.6 percent between January 2012 and January 2013, according to official figures. However, on a monthly basis industrial production rate increased by 11.5 percent between December 2012 and the first month of this year, which is the highest increase over the last five years, indicated the General Industrial Production Index published by the Spanish National Institute of Statistics (INE), reported Xinhua

Picasso Museum celebrates 50th anniversary

Barcelona, March 8 (IANS/EFE) Barcelona's Picasso Museum is celebrating its 50th anniversary with an exhibition of the Spanish master's work and documents belonging to Jaume Sabartes, personal secretary and friend to the artist, and the moving force behind the museum. The museum was founded thanks to the efforts of Sabartes, the artist's wife, Jacqueline, the people of Barcelona and the northeastern Spanish city's government, exhibition curator Silvia Domenech said.

Bolivian oil firms to drill 14 wells

La Paz, March 8 (IANS/EFE) State-owned oil company YPFB and private firms operating in Bolivia plan to drill a record 14 wells this year as part of oil and gas exploration projects, officials said. "It is a record to be able to drill 14 wells, (a figure) that represents a great effort and an even greater challenge. As a result, we expect to make important natural gas and liquids reserves discoveries at depths that range from 2,000 to 6,000 meters," YPFB vice president for operations Jorge Marquez Ostria said.

India to host two important FIH events
