UAE, Russia sign nuclear deal
Abu Dhabi, Dec 17 (IANS/RIA Novosti) The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Russia Monday signed an agreement for cooperation in the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. The agreement was signed by Sergei Kiriyenko, head of the Russian nuclear corporation Rosatom, and UAE's Deputy Energy Minister Mohammed bin Zain al-Hamli. "This is a comprehensive agreement encompassing cooperation in all areas of nuclear energy, including uranium mining and processing, fuel production, research and building nuclear power plants," Kiriyenko said.

Guwahati, Dec 17 (IANS) Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi Monday appealed to Asean nations to have their visa offices here and also asked them for direct flights from this city to that region to boost tourism, trade and commerce. "Direct flights to Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) airport at Guwahati from these countries would increase the possibilities of enhancement in volume of trade, commerce, investment as well as tourism in the entire northeast region," Gogoi said, addressing the Asean-India Trade Conclave. ‘No possibility of military attack against Iran’
Tehran, Dec 17 (IANS) Iran has denied any possibility of military attack against the country by the Western nations, Xinhua reported Monday. Iran was in the best defensive condition and in case the West intended to attack the country, it would face grave loss, the country's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ramin Mehmanparast said, adding that for the same reason the West dared not to attack Iran militarily.
