Dubai, May 22 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Iraq's central criminal court has resumed an investigation into officials suspected of corruption in a $4.2 billion deal to purchase Russian weapons. According to the head of the Iraqi parliament's integrity committee, Bahaa al-Araji, the investigation will go ahead. "The witnesses and suspects will give evidence, and Defence Ministry experts will evaluate the possible damage," he said.

Beijing, May 22 (IANS) China has appealed for communication with the US on cyber security, Xinhua reported Tuesday. While stressing that cyber security was a global issue, confronting not only America but also China, a foreign ministry spokesperson Hong Lei said: "China proposes stronger cooperation with the United States on cyber security." The statement came during a daily press briefing in response to a question claiming the US governmental organisations and businesses have been victims of cyber attacks by the Chinese military. China has also been victim to cyber attacks, yet it has never accused the US for the issue, said Hong, adding the US has so far not provided solid proof of Chinese hackers.

Tuticorin, May 21 (IANS) Indian Coast Guard Ship ICGS Vaibhav, the third in the series of 90-meter-class offshore patrol vessels (OPVs) was commissioned Tuesday at Tuticorin by Vice Admiral Anurag G. Thapliyal, the director general of the force. According to an official release, the vessel has been designed and built indigenously and is fitted with the state-of-the-art navigation and communication equipment and sensors.
New Delhi, May 21 (IANS) Defence secretary Shashi Kant Sharma will be the new Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India, replacing Vinod Rai, who retires May 22, the government announced Tuesday. Sharma, a 1976-batch Bihar cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, will take charge of the new appointment Thursday, the finance ministry said in a statement. "The President of India has appointed Shashi Kant Sharma, IAS, as the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, in terms of Article 148 (1) of the Constitution of India," the statement said
