Mumbai, May 22 (IANS) Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt was early Wednesday quietly shifted from Arthur Road jail to Pune's high-security Yerwada Central Jail, officials said. The shift came as a surprise as state Additional Director General of Police (Prisons), Meeran Borwankar had Tuesday said the actor would not be shifted from the Mumbai jail in the near future. The actor was taken from the high-security Arthur Road Central Jail in south Mumbai in a van around midnight and transferred to the Yerawada Central Jail in Pune early Wednesday, due to security reasons and to avoid media glare.

The actor was taken from the high-security Arthur Road Central Jail in south Mumbai in a van around midnight and delivered to the Yerawada Central Jail in Pune early Wednesday. The shifting took place exactly a week after Dutt surrendered before the Special TADA Court on May 16 after his conviction under the arms act.
