Sami Labs eyes Indian market to boost sales
Bangalore, May 20 (IANS) Leading pharma and nutraceutical export player Sami Labs Monday unveiled a holistic strategy to increase its market share in India to 10 percent in the near future from two percent currently. "We are expanding and diversifying our client base across the country to sell a range of bulk actives and supply finished products for increasing our market share in India by five times," Sami Labs managing director Muhammed Majeed said here Monday. The two decades old firm, which has a major research and development (R&D) centre in Bangalore, manufactures, supplies and exports a range of herbal extracts and cosmecuticals to global markets, including in the US, Europe, Africa and the Gulf region.

Honda to build plant in Mexico
Mexico City, May 4 (IANS/EFE) The Mexican unit of Japanese auto giant the Honda Motor Co. announced plans to invest $470 million in the construction of a transmission plant in Celaya, in the central state of Guanajuato. The president of Honda Mexico, Isamu Yamaki, and Tetsuo Iwaumura, COO of Honda North American regional operations, made an announcement before Mexico's secretary of the economy, Ildefonso Guajardo, that the new plant joins the others that the company has in this country, the company said in a communique.

Mexican glassmaker plans $146 mn investment
Mexico City, May 1 (IANS/EFE) Mexico's Vitro, one of the world's largest glassmakers, said it planned to invest 1.77 billion pesos ($146 million) in different projects this year. "The authorized amount represents an increase of 65 percent compared to the investment carried out in 2012," Vitro chairman Adrian Sada Gonzalez said in a filing with securities regulators. The investment will be used to boost capacity at the Envases y Vidrio Automotriz unit, as well as to improve equipment and facilities, in an effort to consolidate the company's market-leading position, Sada said.
