Ingredients
- Aval – 1 cup
- Finely chopped Onion – 1
- Finely chopped green chillies-2
- Chopped fresh ginger-1tsp
- Bengal gram dhal – 1 teaspoon
- Chana dal – 1 tsp
- Urad dal – 1 teaspoon
- Ground nut – 1 tablespoon
- Curry leaves – a few
- Oil – 4 teaspoon
- Mustard – ½ teaspoon
- Chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
- Asafoetida – a pinch
- Jeera -1/4tsp
- Turmeric – a pinch
- Salt – ½ teaspoon
- Grated Coconut – ½ cup
- Lemon juice – ½ teaspoon
Preparation
Soak aval for about 10 minutes and wash it well in cold water. Keep it aside for 20 minutes for straining. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. When it pops up, add the dals, ground nut, asafoetida, turmeric powder and fry till they turn brown. Add jeera, ginger and green chillies. Sauté well. Then add the onions and fry them till they become golden brown. Add salt and chilli powder and curry leaves. Mix well. Then add the aval and add little oil. Sauté for a minute. Add the grated coconut and mix them well. Keep in low flame till the coconut is cooked well. Finally add the lemon juice and coriander leaves. Mix well. Serve hot.
