Abu Dhabi, April 10 (IANS/WAM) The Family Development Foundation (FDF) from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has launched the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Award for sportswomen.
The award is for women’s sports at local and Arab levels.
Sheikha Al Jaberi, an FDF official, said: “The award aims at motivating women to develop their capacities and skills in different sports fields.”
Mohammed Ibrahim Al Mahmoud, secretary general of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, praised the launch of the award.
“The award will constitute another new support to the category of sportswomen not only at the local level, but also at the Arab and international levels. It will also motivate Emirati girls to score many international sports achievements,” he said.
