New Delhi, July 16 (ANI): In a major blow to the ex Samajwadi Party MP Amarmani Tripathi, the Uttarakhand High Court today upheld the life sentence awarded to him in the Madhumita Shukla murder case. The court also upheld the punishment against all other accused in the case, including Amarmanis wife Madhumani, while stating that their role in the murder has been proved by the CBI. Tripathi, his wife Madhumani and two others were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment by a Dehradun court in 2007 for hatching a conspiracy and killing poetess Shukla in Lucknow in 2003, while she was pregnant. Tripathi has made several attempts in past to get bail to be able to contest state assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
