London, Aug 11 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Australia beat Britain 3-1 to claim the bronze medal in the men’s Olympic field hockey tournament at the Riverbank Arena here Saturday.
Simon Orchard of Australia opened the scoring in the 17th minute, only for Iain Lewers to equalise from a penalty corner 11 minutes later.
In the second half, goals by Jamie Dwyer from a penalty corner and Kieran Govers closed out the match for Britain.
Australia, the 2004 Olympic champions and 2008 bronze medallists, recorded 14 shots to England’s three, and five penalty corners to their opponents’ one.
