
Thiruvananthapuram is the capital city of Kerala and is means Lord Anantha’s home. Being the capital of the state it is also a hot spot for political meetings and other related activities.
There are a number of places of attraction
- Veli Lake: Is an ideal picinic spot for the family. The place has now developed a lot with a variety of activities for children like a wadding pool, floating restaurant etc. A major attraction of this place is the floating bridge. The place also offers boatings trips through the backwaters either by pedal boats or row boats. The spot also has a number of sculptures prepared by the famous sculptor Kanayi Kunjuraman.
- Agastyakoodam: This government protected biopark is said to be the place where the famous Sage Agastya did his penance. The place is noted for the great number of ayurvedic herbs and also for the birds that visit this hill every year. The place is a high peak in the Sahyadri ranges of the western ghats.
- Ponmudi: This hill station is about 54kms away from Thiruvananthapuram. The place is noted for the large collection of exotic butterflies and a deer park. The atmosphere is enchanting with the fragrance of mountain flowers. The place also offers a wonderful experience for trekking lovers.
The city also offers a range of places to visit like the museum, Padmanaba Swami Temple, Secretariat, etc.
