Japan launches South Korean satellite

Tokyo, May 18 (IANS) Japan early Friday launched a South Korean satellite from its space centre in southwestern part of the country.

Japan’s H-2A rocket, carrying Arirang 3 multi-purpose observation satellite, lifted off around 1.30 a.m. from Tanegashima Space Centre in Kagoshima prefecture, Xinhua reported.

The satellite is developed by Korea Aerospace Research Institute, and has an optical camera system to collect and analyze geographical data.
