77 more stranded tourists airlifted in Himachal

483 people rescued from flooded areas in north India: NDRF
New Delhi, June 19 (IANS) A total of 483 people were rescued by the NDRF from flood-affected areas caused by torrential rains in various places of north India, including Uttarakhand, a disaster management official said Wednesday. "While 392 people were rescued in Uttarakhand, NDRF teams rescued 86 people in Haryana and five in Uttar Pradesh," a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) official said in a statement. Twenty-nine teams of the NDRF have been deployed in various flood hit area of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, West Bengal and Assam for relief operations.

Yamuna to break 35-year record Wednesday
New Delhi, June 19 (IANS) The water level in the Yamuna river here will reach 207.7 metres by Wednesday evening, the highest ever recorded in 35 years, a government official said. The highest level ever reached by the Yamuna waters in the city before this was in 1978, when the river was flowing at 207.48 metres. "The forecast says that the water level of the Yamuna would reach 207.7 metres and this is the highest ever recorded," Dharmpal, secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, told IANS.
