Jaipur, May 9 (ANI): Adding a tint of sparkle to his governance, representatives of the Jewellers Association met Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today, and thanked him & the Congress leadership for withdrawing the excise duty levied on gold import and sales. The representatives, under the leadership of Rajeev Arora appreciated the role of Gehlot for raising their issue before the Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee. Meanwhile, Gehlot said that his government was committed to safe guarding the interests of jewellers and would continue to support them. In the recent budget, heavy excise duty on the sale and import of gold was levied by the Finance Ministry which was strongly opposed by jewellers and they had gone on a 21 day long strike throughout the country.
