Fire engulfs transport godowns in New Delhi

New Delhi, June 9 (ANI): Fire engulfed transport godowns in a market area in New Delhi today as fire fighters struggle to control the blaze and rescue those trapped inside. Around 25 fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the fire and extinguish the flames after battling with it for hours. A senior fire official, Harbans Lal Aneja, said that the efforts to douse the fire were in full swing and they ensured that the fire did not spread to nearby areas. Locals said there were no reports of casualty. The officials are yet to ascertain the exact cause of the fire. Fire safety regulations are lax, rarely implemented and not periodically reviewed in most industries across India, which results in the breaking of major fire, resulting in the loss of life and material.
