Beijing, Feb 15 (IANS) A Chinese deliveryman has been sentenced to jail for eight years for taking half of the drugs he found in a parcel, officials said.
Zhai Shengke, an employee of a local delivery company in Ruili city of Yunnan province, was found guilty by a people’s court, Xinhua reported.
The court said Zhai found two packets of methamphetamine hidden in a pair of boots in a parcel meant to be delivered by his company.
Seeing the discovery as an opportunity to make a small fortune, the man only turned over one packet to the company and decided to keep the rest.
Zhai was later arrested but police said they could not track down the sender as there was no personal information.
