Delhi Police official to probe cop’s front-rolls

New Delhi, Feb 8 (IANS) On a Delhi court’s direction, Delhi Police Wednesday asked a joint Commissioner to probe an incident of an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer allegedly forcing a constable to do front-rolls as a punishment in a district court complex.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Goel has been asked to conduct the inquiry as per the directions of the court, said Delhi Police Spokesperson Rajan Bhagat.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Seju P. Kuruvilla allegedly forced constable Dinesh Kumar Tuesday to do front-rolls inside the Patiala House Courts complex as punishment for talking on mobile phone while on duty.

Goel will inquire into the incident and if needed will take statements of the constable and Kuruvilla.

The Delhi High Court has also sought responses of Police Commissioner B.K. Gupta and Kuruvilla on the alleged incident.
