New Delhi, May 11 (ANI): In the wake of the controversy surrounding a cartoon on Dalit icon Dr. B.R. Ambedkar printed in an NCERT textbook, the government today agreed to remove such objectionable caricature from the texts. Union HRD Minister, Kapil Sibal ensured that all such content would be removed from the NCERT textbooks next year. The issue of the cartoon, which also features Jawaharlal Nehru and was published in the textbook for Class 11, was raised by Thol. Thirumavalavan of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal, a Tamil Nadu based party. Earlier during the day, Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee had said that the depiction was wrong and against the best interests of the country.
