Satisfy Summer Thirst Naturally

Water in its normal form is the best choice to satisfy your thirst in this hot summer. Make sure that you drink at least 10 glasses of water every day. Avoid drinking tea or coffee in this season because they will decrease the water level in your body.

Other than pure water, tender coconut water is best not only in summer but in all seasons to quench thirst. It restores your energy levels and provides you with minerals you lose in sweating.

Add a few curry leaves, a few lemon tree leaves, a pinch of salt, and one tablespoon crushed ginger to a cup of buttermilk. Drinking this in summer can make your body cool and keep you energetic. Prepare the buttermilk by mixing 100ml curd and 50ml water in a blender for good results.

Rose-petal preserve is another drink that keeps your body cool in hot days. You can have a tablespoon directly, or mix it in milk or pure water and drink it daily.

Watermelons and muskmelons have got high water content and some fibre. They promote easy digestion, help in removing waste and refill body minerals. Make a glass of juice with one cup of melon pieces (after removing the seeds) adding two teaspoons of honey, one teaspoon sugar, a pinch of salt, and one teaspoon lemon juice. This is an excellent summer drink.

Juices of lemons, mosambi or oranges mixed with water, honey and jiggery are also good to maintain good health in summer as they are rich sources of Vitamin C which improves immunity naturally.

Eat raw cucumber and carrot salad as snacks and include vegetables of the gourd variety in your meals. They have high water content and are easily digestible. This too can keep your thirst in summer at a normal level.
