Chinese students stamped ‘nice’ and ‘naughty’
Beijing, Sep 26 (IANS) A primary school teacher in China has been accused of stamping blue and red marks on the faces of her students, based on whether they were "nice" or "naughty" according to their performance. The Shangfen Primary School in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, has since apologized for the misconduct of the teacher, the Shanghai Daily reported. Good students received red marks on their foreheads while the "naughty" ones were given blue marks.

Only barrier-free schools will retain recognition: Court
New Delhi, Sep 26 (IANS) The Delhi High Court has directed the government to de-recognise private schools which do not appoint special educators for children with disabilities and make their premises barrier-free. The court, in a recent order, granted time till March 31, 2013 to the schools to make their premises barrier-free and asked them to appoint special educators within the next two years.
Degrees out of reach for 150,000 distance education students
Rohtak (Haryana), Sep 26 (IANS) Nearly 150,000 students face an uncertain future after the Haryana government directed the Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) in Rohtak to shut down its more than 11,000 study centres inside and outside the state. The Haryana government last month passed a bill in the assembly amending the MDU act of 1975, effectively closing down the study centres of its Directorate of Distance Education (DDE)

Jawaharlal Nehru Indian Culture Centre and the Indian embassy presented the series of programmes titled "A Slice of India" to showcase various aspects of Indian traditions in the university campus, an embassy press release said.
