British teachers not to be sacked over gay marriage
London, Feb 3 (IANS) Around 40,000 teachers in Britain will not be sacked even if they defy an upcoming law legalising same-sex marriages, a top British official has said. Shanghai schools to hire ex-athletes as coaches
Shanghai, Feb 3 (IANS) The Chinese business hub will hire 100 professional coaches and retired athletes as sports teachers in schools to tackle the growing menace of obesity and weak physical condition of students. To improve the quality of physical education lessons, the Shanghai Sports Bureau will also improve the management of public sporting venues, the Shanghai Daily reported. TV-watching British kids appear unable to walk
London, Feb 3 (IANS) Some three-year-old children in Britain spend so much time in front of the TV that they appear to be unable to walk, a top government expert has said. Louise Casey, Prime Minister David Cameron's adviser on troubled families, said a teacher informed her that one child spent so much time alone in front of the TV screen that he could not even chew. Casey said the problem of young children being unable to walk was a clear sign of the height of the challenge to help around 120,000 troubled families in the country, the Daily Mail reported.
