London Olympic 2012: Kashyap, Ghosh saviors of day 1

New Delhi, July 29 (ANI): Shuttler Parupalli Kashyap and teenage paddler Soumyajit Ghosh were the sole saving grace for India on the first day of London Olympic Games 2012. Kashyap beat Belgiums Yuhan Tan in straight games, winning 21 14, 21 12, in a Group D match, while 19 year old Ghosh outplayed Brazils Gustavo Tsuboi 11 9, 14 12, 7 11, 12 10, 5 11, 12 0 (4 2) in a closely contested mens singles table tennis first round match. The day began on an uninspiring note when V Diju and Jwala Gutta, a settled pair hunting for a medal, were beaten in straight games 16 21, 12 21 by Indonesias Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir in under half an hour in their opening Group C mixed doubles match.
