Flood kills 25 Afghans at wedding party

Kabul, May 8 (IANS) At least 25 people were killed while attending a wedding party in an Afghan village as flood washed away several houses, a government official said. Locals believe over 100 people are still missing.

Eight Taliban killed in Afghanistan

Kabul, May 6 (IANS) Eight Taliban militants have been killed during joint operations of Afghan forces and NATO troops in various Afghan provinces, the interior ministry said Sunday. "Afghan police, army and coalition forces launched eight joint cleanup operations in Kunar, Faryab, Kandahar, Nimroz, Zabul, Ghazni, Paktia and Farah provinces, killing eight armed Taliban insurgents within past 24 hours," Xinhua quoted the ministry as saying.
